Ellie Krieger is a New York Times best-selling author, registered dietitian and host of Food Network's "Healthy Appetite." Krieger strives to provide people of all ages with the knowledge and tools to achieve balance in food, health and life, using her own busy life as an example.
Krieger's warmth and charisma have made her the go-to nutritionist in the media today. Her success can be attributed to her way of offering real advice without any of the gimmicks and crash diets the permeate today's news. She reaches people with her message that it is possible for anyone, given the tools and knowledge, to live life to the maximum by being in healthy balance, nurturing a richly satisfying, sumptuous and attainable lifestyle. She believes that through her work she can help change the way society views food, health and nutrition.
Her 2005 book, "Small Changes Big Results" was a how-to on easy-to-live-with habit changes that yield optimal results. Krieger's second book, "The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life," was an immediate New York Times bestseller, peaking at number two on the list.
Krieger's extensive work in the media has earned her a loyal following and national recognition. She speaks regularly at events around the country and has appeared as a guest expert on dozens of programs, including "Today Show," CNN, CBS's "Saturday Early Show" and "Good Morning America." Additionally, she is a regular columnist for Food Network magazine and Fine Cooking magazine, and contributes regularly to numerous publications including Parenting, Shape, Woman's Day, Baby Talk, Fitness, Self, Glamour, GQ, Prevention, Men's Journal, Ladies' Home Journal, The New York Daily News and Newsday.
She received her bachelor's degree, with honors and distinction, in clinical nutrition from Cornell University and her master's in nutrition education from Columbia University. Krieger resides in New York City with her daughter Isabella and husband Thom.
